Music that endures.

To take a quote from the movie Butch Cassidy
and the Sundance Kid, "Who are these guys?" Open Wide moved from a fantasy, to a desire, to a
reality through the persistent efforts of its creator, Dr. William (Bill) Octave. Not wanting
to always be a "legend in his living room," he went into action. Deciding that the best way to
find band members who shared the desire to play professionally, he looked towards people with
a common background. Therefore, being a dentist, he ran an ad in the local dental journal.
"Looking for musically inclined dentists to get together to play Rock music for fun and where
ever it may lead." The only responses were from four dentists and a dental assistant. Call it
coincidence or fate, but they were a guitarist, a drummer, a bassist and a vocalist. It was the
perfect nucleus to form a band.
There was now a band in search of an identity and a name. After trying on a
few names for size, Open Wide was chosen. What else could you call a bunch of dentists? The name
was related, simple and was easy to remember. Over the years band members have changed to not only
include dentists, but other occupations. However, the name has stuck!
As the band members have changed, Open Wide has settled into a style in which
they all enjoy and excel, Classic Rock. With the current group of musicians, they are quickly becoming
one of the most recognized names on the local music scene.
